It is not a wide and dim flood light. It provides a bright and usable spot light at least 12 inches wide on the grill and will adequately illuminate an area at least 18 inches wide.

The only reason I didn’t give it a 5-star review is that the 2-axis mounting system does not allow it to rotate a full 360 degrees like a 3-axis or ball&socket system would allow. I didn’t realize this when I ordered it.

Despite the constraints in flexibility of aiming the light exactly the WAY you want to, it is still possible to aim the light appropriately if you are willing to compromise a little on WHERE and HOW it is clamped on to the grill handle. In my case, I was forced to camp it with the clamp bolt sticking out to the front of the grill and so it is slightly in the way.

This product seems identical to those that cost up to 3x as much. The touch-sensitive On/Off switch is great and makes the unit more weather resistant. The battery compartment is securely shut with screws which also adds to weather resistance. It seems the unit should be able to withstand a summer season outside in the fog and rain as long as you use a grill cover that also covers the light when the grill is not in use.
